Who I am.
The controller of your personal data is Gergely Miklós Szalai (“I”, “me”). You can contact me at [email protected] for any privacy requests.
What I collect.
– Newsletter: your email address when you subscribe.
– Newsletter analytics: basic measurement of email delivery, opens and link clicks using a tiny image (“tracking pixel”) and tracked links.
– Site security: standard server logs (IP address, user-agent, requested pages, timestamp) to operate and secure the site.
– Transactional emails: email addresses used to send necessary messages such as login/magic links (for site operation).
Why I use your data & legal bases.
– Newsletter & newsletter analytics: to send updates you requested and understand aggregate engagement — consent (you can withdraw any time via the unsubscribe link).
– Site security/operation & transactional emails: to run the site safely and prevent abuse — legitimate interests (and, where relevant for members, contract).
Recipients (categories).
I share data only with service providers acting on my instructions, such as an email delivery provider (which also provides basic newsletter analytics), a transactional email provider (for login/magic links), and a hosting provider (to operate the site). These providers may process your data only as needed to provide their services to me.
International transfers.
I select EU-region services and primarily process data within the EEA. If a transfer or remote access outside the EEA occurs (for example, limited vendor support), I rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and require equivalent protections.
Retention.
– Newsletter data: kept until you unsubscribe, or I stop the newsletter.
– Newsletter analytics events (opens/clicks): kept for up to 12 months to assess performance, then deleted or aggregated.
– Server logs: kept for 730 days (2 years) for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or anonymised.
Cookies & similar technologies.
On the website, I use only essential cookies needed to provide the site and do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
In emails, I use similar technologies (a tracking pixel and tracked links) to measure opens and clicks for the newsletter. You can opt out by unsubscribing or by disabling images in your email client (which may limit measurement).
Your rights.
You have rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction/objection, data portability (where applicable), and the right to withdraw consent at any time (for the newsletter). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (Czech Data Protection Authority).
Security.
I use HTTPS and limit access to personal data to what is necessary to operate the site.
Changes.
I may update this notice to reflect changes to my practices. I will post the new version here with an updated effective date.
